Truth. Flow. Words... that represent you

Conversations & Cocktails: Real Talk That Bridges The Gap

WHAT IT IS: Conversations & Cocktails is a social event series created by Nadine Mauricette to help bridge the communication gap between men and women of African and Caribbean heritage. We bring young professionals together in a chill and laid-back atmosphere where they can engage in an honest dialogue about relationships. NO FIRING SQUADS. NO BLAME. Just real talk that bridges the gap. Scroll down to peep the videos & pics of past events!

Presented by husband & wife duo Sean Mauricette, a.k.a. SUBLIMINAL and relationship writer, Nadine Mauricette of NavyJade. If you’ve read their exchanges on Facebook or viewed any of their YouTube videos, you’ve seen their chemistry and colourful banter first hand. This, along with the fact that Nadine is a writer specializing in relationships, makes it easy to see that they’re the perfect team to bring an event like this to Toronto.

Conversations & Cocktails is not to be missed and is a positive step towards bridging the communication gap between men and women and enriching and strengthening relationships within our community. This event is open to all – whether you’re single, married, divorced or simply just interested in some real talk.

80s GAMES: And to end your evening on the right note, reignite your nostalgia of the good ol’ days. Stick around to mingle and engage in some friendly competition by playing your favourite 80s games! Yes, that’s right. We’re taking it waaay back with games like Connect Four, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Perfection & Operation. You won’t want to miss it! How Black Men in Toronto REALLY Feel About Relationships

C and C 5 2015 - Flyer Landscape FINAL

THANK YOU so much for coming out to Conversations & Cocktails: Love Jones Edition! For the 5th C&C we celebrated a movie that “explores the passionate and intelligent sides of love,” the quintessential movie about Black love: Love Jones. Some of you have attended C&C since the beginning. And some of you were newbies. You were all phenomenal and passionate! From Ajax to Hamilton, you were definitely the liveliest group we’ve had to date. We loved your enthusiasm! From morning sex to how to deal with your ex, thank you for sharing your insight about relationships and what it really means to have a Love Jones (photos coming soon).

Thanks to our DJ & friend Jonathan Shaw for the dope chunes. And special thanks to our other sponsors Big It Up Hats and Leaking Awesome for supplying the giveaway prizes.

And last but definitely not least, special thanks to our sponsors and friends at 3030 for taking care of everyone. That Dark & Stormy cocktail was divine! And that Blue Cheese Mac & Cheese was sensational! You guys are fantastic.

Anytime men and women can come together to talk about love & relationships it’s a beautiful thing for our community. And if they can also eat, drink, network & play some 80s games, that’s truly special. I’m humbled and am still in awe from your feedback & kind words. You’re wrong. I should be thanking you. Your support is everything. Let’s build.

See you for the 6th Conversations & Cocktails next year. In the meantime, enjoy these lovely photos by T.O. Studio.

Love & light./Nadine
